Encouraging employees to take sustainable commutes to work

Sadly, a great deal of air pollution comes from cars and transport and the unsustainable levels of carbon emissions they pump out into the atmosphere. Therefore, we have chosen to take the initiative and encourage our employees to walk to work. Why did we do this? At Magenta, our team firmly believes that reducing our impact on the planet starts with ourselves and changing our everyday habits, such as promoting walking to work amongst the workforce.

Eco boxes and our box recycling scheme

We always strive to do our best to make people’s home and business moves go as safely and smoothly as possible. The selection of eco boxes and packaging materials we offer customers, alongside the box recycling scheme where we accept old boxes and recycle them for just 50 p per box or offer them to local charities, both demonstrate our green commitment. We have taken these great moves on boxing and packaging to ensure that we avoid cluttering the local area with plastic and cardboard.

E-charging point at our stores for electrical vehicles 

An electric vehicle battery is estimated to have greenhouse gas emissions that are 66 per cent lower than a petrol car, and 60 per cent lower than a diesel. In recent times, we have seen an encouraging rise in staff going for the green option and using electrical vehicles. With this in mind, we have now put infrastructure in place to further encourage this by installing multiple e-charging for EVs at our storage unit facilities. That way, Magenta’s customers and staff have no issue charging up their EV whenever it needs more juice.

Going paperless 

The traditional office environment can lead to endless amounts of paper being wasted, a valuable material that we mustn’t take for granted. Here at Magenta, we recently switched to a paperless approach. For example, when making a booking, the procedure is now fully paperless, we use secure digital poppies and save paper from being used. This new paperless procedure was simple for us to incorporate into our business, and it proved cost-effective too! 

It gives us satisfaction at Magenta to know that through our paperless procedures and going digital with procedures, we are contributing to saving beautiful trees that release more oxygen into the atmosphere. 

One tree is planted for every new customer 

As mentioned above, we care about trees and the impact that deforestation could have on climate change. One of our green commitment goals going forward is therefore to plant one new tree for every new customer we get through the doors. 

Solar panels

We pride ourselves on being a self-sustaining business. In the aim of further reducing the company’s carbon footprint, our self storage stores now have solar panels installed on the rooftops. 

Consistent support for sustainability charity organisations

We have self storage stores across England, and we like to get involved in supporting charities that provide meaningful support. Environmental charity organisations that Magenta actively supports include Alan’s Africa in Banbury, Box Aid in our Acton store, and the RSPCA in Nottingham.
