For any business owner, customer service should be at the centre of everything you do. After all, where would you be without your customers? In this article, we discuss why going the extra mile for customers is important and what we do at Magenta to make a difference.

Why is great customer service so important?

The way in which you provide customer service can make or break your brand. A business with great customer service has a team that does more than just answer customer queries and solve issues – they actively go the extra mile for their customers, and that’s why their business is so successful.

By going the extra mile, you can create unique, personalised, and bespoke relationships with your customers. Not only will this help ensure high customer satisfaction and help you retain more of those customers, but it will also set you above your competitors, and demonstrate that you are not just an ‘average’ enterprise. In other words, you’ll be the best in the business.

Customers who engage with businesses that prioritise customer service will feel valued and will in turn be more likely to spread a good message about the business through word of mouth or online. This will allow the given business to attract new customers and establish itself as one of the best on the market, meaning it won’t have to worry quite so much about the competition.

So, how can I go the extra mile for my customers?

There are many ways in which you can go the extra mile for your customers, allowing you to set your business above the rest and ensure you are fierce marketplace competition.

Let’s take a look at some of the novel ways you can do just that so that you can turn an average brand into one of excellence, and guarantee your customers will keep coming back for more.

Personalisation

Customers love to feel valued, and an easy way to do this is to personalise the service you provide them with. This could be something as simple as mentioning their name in your email correspondence with them, or wishing them a happy birthday on their birthday.

This will demonstrate to your customers that your efforts are truly tailored to them, which will help increase satisfaction and retention, and ensure they don’t turn to the competition.

Exclusive offers

Give your customers – both new and old – offers on the products or services you provide. This could include anything from discounts to exclusive products and more – the possibilities are endless, so get creative, as this is a great way to create customer loyalty and ensure they stay with your business.

Freebies

Who doesn’t love a freebie? Offering free products to both your new and loyal customers is a fantastic way to increase the reputation of your business and demonstrate that you truly care about your customers. In addition, as most businesses do not do this, it is another great opportunity to ensure you are able to set yourself above the competition.

Be speedy and efficient

No one likes to be put on hold, right? And most customers simply hate calling customer service due to having to experience long waiting times and inefficient communication, which often leads them to feel as though they have been disregarded – or worse, not cared about.

This often leads to them abandoning the given business and going elsewhere, which is why it is so vital that you are able to answer any queries as fast as possible without compromising quality for quantity.

In other words, deliver a speedy service whilst still providing a stellar, personalised service for your customer to demonstrate that you truly care about them.

Follow up with your customers

Keep in contact! Something as simple as a phone call or email asking how your customers have enjoyed your product or service since purchase can make a world of difference.

By doing so, it shows that you care about their investment and opinion and are willing to implement any necessary changes to increase customer satisfaction. Ask them if there is anything you can improve on and implement any changes accordingly, or simply ask for a review on your website. As mentioned above, customers who feel valued are more likely to stick with your business.
