Transport links and proximity to London

One of the benefits of living in Reading is without a doubt its excellent transport links and handy proximity to the capital. The lovely new Elizabeth Line trains can take you directly from Reading Railway Station to Paddington in London in around 45 minutes.

Want to see a theatre show on the West end, visit the Thames, or go for a day trip to London? Popping into London and having fun times like this is nice and simple when you live in Reading thanks to its reliable transport links.

You may work in London, yet find the hustle and bustle of London overwhelming, and feel like living somewhere a bit quieter, more relaxed, and less manic. If this sounds like you, then Reading could be a brilliant option for you as a place to live that is within touching distance of London. Carry on reading to learn more about the pros of living in Reading, England.

An abundance of professional opportunities

In recent years, Reading has become a thriving spot for tech businesses, with tech-related businesses of all different sizes dotted around in business parks all over the town. Two big-name tech employers with headquarters in Reading are Microsoft and Oracle.

In general, you will find there is a wide range of employment opportunities on your doorstep when you live in the town. So, you may not have to go and commute to London, since Reading itself offers an abundance of professional opportunities for you to make the most of.

Bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues to enjoy

In Reading, there are plenty of fun bars and restaurants for you to take in, especially along the riverfront area.

For entertainment, head on down to the Reading Concert Hall, a top venue to watch stand-up or live music. Are you a fan of theatre performances? Take a trip to the Reading Rep Theatre.

You are a stone’s throw from beautiful countryside

Reading is conveniently located near the Chiltern Hills if you are looking for some fresh air and scenic green countryside walks. So, peace and tranquil scenery are never far away when you live in Reading.

The local music scene

Reading has a top-notch music scene, with various venues with great atmospheres where you can see acts perform live and in the flesh.

Part of the Reading music scene is of course the annual Reading Music Festival, which always hosts the biggest and best contemporary acts, and in 2019 welcomed an amazing 105,000 revellers.

Reading fringe festival

Reading Fringe Festival is an unmissable event if you are into watching live dance, music, and artistic performances. Are you a creative person? Reading is a town with a creative scene for you to explore.
