How do you declutter your home and store Christmas decorations after the Christmas season is done?

At Magenta Self Storage, we have put together some fun ideas around the best ways to organise and store Christmas decorations. A tidy home is a tidy mind. There’s no point in allowing piles of decorations to accumulate and go unused as they take up hoards of space well into January.

Repurpose cardboard boxes

You’d be amazed at just how many items sizeable sturdy cardboard boxes can store. Put like with like when it comes to storing away your decorations, that way everything will be much easier to find next year. So, make an effort to keep hold of your cardboard boxes and reuse them to help store your majestic Chrimbo decorations!

Arrange Christmas decorations by colour

Another tip for storing your yuletide decorations away in an organised manner is to arrange them by colour. For instance, putting red baubles with other red baubles,  and green tinsel strips with fellow green tinsel, and so forth. This may sound simplistic, but it’s a savvy way of organising mountains of decorations.

Use clear resealable plastic garment bags

Garment bags aren’t only useful for storing clothes, they can also be used to store Christmas decorations. Using clear garment bags will mean you can easily see what’s inside without having to rummage through them. This will save you time when unpacking decorations next year.

Hang festive wreaths on coat hangers

Festive wreaths can look truly dazzling, can’t they? No porch is complete at Christmas time without one. When you’re faced with storing away your wreaths in the post-Christmas period, you can hang your festive wreaths up on coat hangers in a clothes cupboard. You don’t want your floor space cluttered up with sad-looking wreaths in January, and you want to avoid nice wreaths from getting damaged! Therefore, using coat hangers is a bright idea.

There’s no shame in putting up an artificial tree

As pretty as Christmas trees look, their needles can cause quite a mess on your floor, or get in the paws of your beloved pets. There’s a lot less cleaning and tidying to do when the fun’s all over after Christmas if you choose to put up an artificial tree.

Want to store away your artificial Christmas tree neatly? If storage space is an issue for you at home or you don’t have a garage or loft, why not use a self storage unit? At Magenta, we have secure self storage facilities across the Midlands and south England, ideal for personal and business use

Make your own handy decoration toolbox

A fair amount of work and DIY skills can go into putting up Christmas decorations at home every year. You need somewhere handy to store strings, ribbons, batteries, scissors, and all that jazz. We recommend making your own decoration toolbox so these items are all in neat drawers that are easy for you to access and arrange.

Place your Christmas decorations in a rented self storage unit

Sometimes, despite your best efforts and creative storage ideas, you may simply not have enough storage space left at home. Ran out of storage space at home? Hire one of the safe and secure storage unit spaces we provide here at Magenta Self Storage.

We now have 6 self storage facility locations across the midlands and the south of England, with the 7th opening in Northamptonshire soon! It gives you true peace of mind knowing your Christmas decorations are safe and sound in storage until  next year!
